English
This report assesses how private financing mechanisms can scale up carbon farming in Europe. It maps the market through two channels: the Voluntary Carbon Market and agricultural value chain schemes such as price premiums tied to corporate climate commitments. It examines key drivers, stakeholders, standards, and policies, and explores how public policy can support or regulate these channels to create additional demand. The report provides a common evidence base for the CAFAMORE project.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
This report contributes to the global discussion on carbon farming finance, relevant to TCFD/ISSB disclosure for agricultural supply chains and corporate climate commitments. It offers a European perspective on how VCM and value-chain premiums can be structured, informing transition finance and policy design in other regions. It also highlights the role of public policy in de-risking private investment in nature-based solutions.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This report assesses whether and how private financing mechanisms can contribute to scaling up carbon farming in Europe. To this end, it maps the carbon farming market through an in-depth assessment of its market fundamentals at European and international levels. It also examines the key drivers of market development, the main stakeholders involved, and the standards, rules and policies shaping carbon farming and related claims. Building on this analysis, the report provides a common evidence base and identifies key research questions for subsequent work in the CAFAMORE project. The report is structured around two main private financing channels: first, the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and its evolving demand for carbon farming; second, agricultural value chain schemes, particularly price premiums linked to corporate climate commitments. It then examines how public policies can support, regulate or strengthen these financing channels and create additional demand for carbon farming. Please note that this report has not yet been approved by the European Commission and is still under review.
