English

A practitioner presentation on CO2 emissions in specialist geotechnical engineering. In a typical project, Scope 3 accounts for ~90%, Scope 1 ~8%, and Scope 2 ~2%, with the biggest reduction lever in the construction process itself. Intelligent planning, targeted material use, and optimized earthworks/logistics can cut emissions substantially, as embodied in KELLER's sustainability strategy.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

日本のGX文脈において

建設業はScope3比率が高く、SSBJ・有報でのサプライチェーン排出開示が進む日本企業にとって、地盤・基礎工事という川上工程の排出構造と削減実務は自社Scope3管理の参考になる。

In the global GX context

Construction is a Scope 3-heavy sector; this case gives global disclosure scholars and CSRD/ISSB reporters a concrete breakdown of upstream geotechnical emissions and practical abatement levers in the built environment.

📄 Abstract(原文)

This presentation takes us into the world of specialist geotechnical engineering, where the invisible opponent CO 2 e is generated. Three practical examples show how this opponent can be tackled step by step on site. In specialist geotechnical engineering, the origin of emissions is particularly clear: the largest share arises from material use. These Scope 3 emissions account for approx. 90% of total emissions. Scope 1 emissions make up around 8%, while Scope 2 emissions contribute the smallest share, at about 2%, in a typical specialist geotechnical engineering project. However, as in every good story, there is hope: the greatest lever for reduction lies directly in the construction process itself. Through intelligent planning, targeted material use and optimised solutions in earthworks and logistics, CO 2 e emissions can be reduced considerably. Emissions from transport, heavy equipment and the consumption of fuels, oils and electricity pose further challenges. These sources can also be reduced through innovative approaches and new technologies. This is precisely where KELLER's sustainability strategy comes in.
