📄 Abstract(原文)
The role and mechanisms of green credit in alleviating energy poverty remain insufficiently understood in the context of advancing carbon peaking and carbon neutrality targets alongside energy equity. This study aims to uncover the underlying mechanisms through which green credit affects energy poverty and to examine its potential implementation paradox.. Based on provincial panel data from China, this study conducts an empirical test using a two-way fixed-effects model. The results show that green credit significantly reduces energy poverty by promoting green technological innovation, advancing industrial structure upgrading, and reducing disparities in urban-rural energy infrastructure. This mitigating effect is negatively moderated by institutional friction and the structural characteristics of financial markets, leading to the concentration of green credit resources in large-scale projects and thereby weakening their inclusiveness for energy-poor groups. Theoretically, by integrating the theories of appropriate technology, energy justice, and financial development, this paper constructs an analytical framework connecting green credit and energy poverty, addressing the lack of attention to the social benefit dimension in existing research. From a practical perspective, the findings provide empirical evidence and policy implications for optimizing green credit design and enhancing its effectiveness in alleviating energy poverty.
