📄 Abstract(原文)

Abstract The manufacture of glass has become an integral part of modern high-tech society and is one of the most energy-intensive processes in modern industry. However, due to the energy transition, the glass industry is also being forced to research new technologies for decarbonizing its processes and utilizing renewable energies in order to remain viable for the future. This can be achieved by implementing a hybrid heating concept consisting of the continuous melting of glass using microwave radiation and the targeted temperature control of the glass melt using microwave-induced plasma. In the project, a demonstrator in the form of an inclined bed melter was developed, built, and tested in several melting campaigns using this heating concept. This made it possible to prove the functionality of the technological concept and determine basic operating parameters. Residue-free glass was melted, an energy balance was created for the plant, and the exhaust gas composition was examined. With a throughput rate of approx. 1 kg/h and a cycle time of approx. 45 minutes, the demonstrator corresponds to Technology Readiness Level 6. This means that a technology for melting glass and glass batches will be available in the future that can be operated continuously using only renewable energy sources.
