A K-promoted CoCu/ZrMgOx catalyst was prepared by sol-gel and tested for the reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction. K addition suppressed methanation and boosted CO selectivity, reaching 23.32% CO2 conversion and 99.92% CO selectivity at 550°C with stable operation for 120 h. In situ DRIFTS confirmed a formate-intermediate pathway, with K accelerating HCOO* formation.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
RWGS is a foundational step for CCU, e-fuels, and green chemicals, feeding into the broader decarbonization pathways that underpin transition finance and industrial decarbonization strategies. This study offers catalyst-level insight for scaling CO2-to-CO conversion, though it remains upstream of disclosure and policy frameworks such as TCFD/ISSB.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Abstract: A K-promoted CoCu/ZrMgOx catalyst was prepared via a sol-gel method. Characterizations including XRD, TEM, H2-D2 exchange experiments, and CO2/CO-TPD revealed that the introduction of K led to a slight increase in particle size, suppressed H2 dissociation, and facilitated CO desorption. In CO2 hydrogenation to CO (the reverse water–gas shift reaction, RWGS), the presence of the K promoter significantly inhibited methane formation and markedly enhanced CO selectivity. Under the condition 550ºC, the CO2 conversion and CO selectivity were 23.32% and 99.92%, respectively; the CO-STY reached 5361.14 g∙kgcat-1∙h-1, and the catalyst could operate stably for 120 h without significant deactivation. In situ DRIFTS results confirmed that CO formation predominantly follows a formate intermediate pathway. Although the K promoter did not alter the reaction pathway, it facilitated the rapid generation of HCOO* intermediates, thereby increasing the CO yield.
