English

This study models and techno-economically assesses a hybrid adsorption and low-temperature swing (HALT) CO2 capture process for pulp mill flue gas, using activated carbon in a dual-cycle TVSA configuration. Simulation shows 98% CO2 purity and 94% recovery at an estimated cost of €42/ton when low-grade mill energy is used. It demonstrates a cost-effective, scalable capture route for bio-based industry.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Industrial CCS is central to net-zero pathways under ISSB/CSRD disclosure and transition finance. This pulp-mill case adds empirical cost evidence for adsorption-based capture in bio-based sectors, informing decarbonization roadmaps and green capex decisions.

📄 Abstract(原文)

This study presents a process modelling and techno-economic assessment of a hybrid adsorption and low-temperature swing (HALT) process for an industrial CO2 capture case. The system, designed for pulp mill flue gas, employs activated carbon in a dual-cycle temperature supported vacuum swing adsorption (TVSA) configuration. Simulation results demonstrate 98% CO2 purity and 94% recovery with an estimated capture cost of €42 per ton when low-grade energy of the pulp mill is applied. The findings highlight the feasibility of proposed adsorption-based carbon capture as a cost-effective and scalable solution for bio-based industrial applications.
