English

This study uses FINPLAN to assess the financial viability of a proposed 50 MW solar PV project supplying a future Sustainable Aviation Fuel refinery in Tema, Ghana. It finds that positive shareholder returns can coexist with weak debt coverage and supplementary funding needs. Longer construction raises financing costs, while currency depreciation and lower tariffs weaken repayment capacity; concessional finance eases borrowing pressure. It recommends timely delivery, currency-risk management, sustainable tariffs, and cash-flow-aligned financing.

📄 Abstract(原文)

This presentation assesses the financial viability of a proposed 50 MW solar photovoltaic project supplying renewable electricity to a future Sustainable Aviation Fuel refinery in Tema, Ghana, supporting aviation decarbonisation ambitions. Using FINPLAN, it examines construction duration, exchange-rate depreciation, electricity tariff reductions and concessional financing. Results show that positive shareholder returns can coexist with weak debt coverage and supplementary funding needs. Longer construction increases financing costs, while currency depreciation and lower tariffs weaken repayment capacity. Concessional finance reduces borrowing pressure. The report recommends timely delivery, currency-risk management, sustainable tariffs and financing aligned with cash flows to strengthen project financial resilience.
