Using panel data from 280 Chinese prefecture-level cities (2006–2019, 3,920 observations), this study examines whether the Low-Carbon City Pilot (LCCP) policy mitigates the urban energy rebound effect. It offers a dataset and insights on the effectiveness of urban low-carbon policies in curbing rebound effects.
